Granville Island will explode with animated characters this October in the very first Vancouver International Puppet Festival. This unique event happens over 3 days and nights with performances, workshops, interactive panel discussions, and screenings of the work of local and international puppeteers, puppet builders, and object animators.</p>

With October in full swing, it’s time for UBC Improv's official "First Show of the Year". The show consists of three improv sets, each featuring a woven comedy tapestry inspired by audience suggestions.</p>

Geeks versus Nerds Vancouver kicks off their fourth season with a Spooky Scary Halloween Showdown. The first debate features Ash Williams versus Hellboy in "Who is the greatest blue collar fighter of the macabre?" Once the dust and dusk have settled, it's Vampires versus Werewolves in "Who would run the most killer Halloween party?"</p>

Debra DiGiovanni has been called the “Best Comedian to see after a Messy Break Up”, and for three years running was named Canada’s favorite female comedian. She was a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, often appears on CBC radio’s The Debaters, and has become a nationwide favorite on the hugely popular Much Music’s Video On Trial.</p>

Grad School Improv returns with their hit improvised medical drama Point Grey's Anatomy! With the passage of time, how have the characters changed? Can southern surgeon Mac Tucker repair his broken relationships? Will competent nurse Linda Mason gain some damn respect? Can Lillienne Boner balance life as Chief of Surgery and a mother of twins? And is Roy Donovan still the lovable intern we love to love? Only time will tell.</p>

Some of Vancouver’s best stand-ups face off with some of the city’s finest improvisers in the first-ever Bloodfeud. Hosted by Matty Vu and Malcolm McLeod. Bloodfeud shows what happens when comedy stops being polite and starts being real. With special guests from stand-up rooms and improv troupes across the city.</p>

Patrick Maliha is a comic, an impressionist, a trivia host, and a Gentlemen Heckler. He has headlined and MC’ed at clubs, festivals, and corporate events across Canada and the U.S., and on Sunday he headlines the Belmont Bar with host Harris Anderson, San Aung, Jenny Toews, Brad Dorion and more on the bill.</p>

Come party with The Fictionals and special guests as they bring the world of Cards Against Humanity to life. Plus they have sweet prizes to give out, new cards in the official show deck, and will crown the Most Horrible Person in Vancouver!</p>

Ghost Light Vaudeville Society’s debut production, “The Gumshoe Revue”, is an investigation into paranormal pulp and pulse-raising performances. Our hardboiled hosts will lead us all through a wide variety of acts - including burlesque, drag, comedy, and music - each one uniquely inspired by the ghosts and demons that live among us. This event will act as a major fundraiser for a local non-profit organization, Women Against Violence Against Women (WAVAW), and all proceeds raised will go to help their many wonderful programs.</p>

<p>“We’re excited to showcase our community,” said Albert Fok, president of Chinatown BIA. “Chinatown has always been a hidden gem of Vancouver, even though we’re the largest Chinatown in Canada and second largest in North America. We’re inviting all Vancouverites, British Columbians, and out-of-town visitors to come to the festival.”</p>

Vancouver TheatreSports pokes fun at Vancouver’s notorious dating scene with OK Tinder – Swipe Right Comedy. Improvisers ‘match up’ every Wednesday night to turn the good, the bad and the ludicrous of Vancouver’s dating scene into 60 minutes of side-splitting laughter. Tickets: $5</p>

Vancouver's celebration of video game culture and community is back with another round of comedy, burlesque, and live music. Geeky stand-up comedy at it's finest. Comedians unleash their nerdy side at Seven Dining Lounge and talk about Role-Playing, Video Games, Magic: The Gathering and more. Headlined by Patrick Maliha, hosted by Victoria Banner, and possibly an appearance by a Machop. Tickets: $5 at the door.</p>
<p>2) <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/1009866692465899/">Queer: Interesting - A Pride Fundraiser</a> at Havana Theatre, 7:30 pm on July 30<br />
- Presented by Geek: Interesting, Queer: Interesting is a panel quiz show about queer history and Pride Festivities to raise funds for Rainbow Refugee. The questionably qualified panelists this month are Amy Fox, David C. Jones, Julia Sarah and Sasja Smolders. Tickets: By donation.</p>
<p>3) <a href="http://www.thecomedymix.com/">Graham Clark at The Comedy Mix</a>, 8 and 10:30 pm on July 29 and 30<br />
Graham Clark is a 3-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee and co-host of Maximum Fun’s Stop Podcasting Yourself. He is a regular on CBC’s The Debaters and has appeared at Just for Laughs, Halifax Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and Bumbershoot. Graham is also the creator of beardpaintings.com, where he sells paintings made using his beard as a paintbrush and donates the proceeds to charity. Tickets: $18 to $20.</p>
<p>4) <a href="https://www.facebook.com/queerprov/">Queer Prov Hangover Pajama Party</a> at XYYVR, 9:30 pm on August 1<br />
After partying hard at the Pride Festivities, Queer Prov will take the stage at XYYVR in their comfiest pajamas, and encourage their audience to do the same. Queer laughs will be served starting at 9:30 pm, and all are welcome. Tickets: No cover.</p>
<p>5)<a href="http://awkwardstageproductions.com/"> The Fakespeare Festival</a> at York Theatre, 2 pm matinees and 8 pm evening shows from August 3 to 28<br />
- A new festival by Awkward Stage Productions celebrating clever Canadian twists of Shakespeare: TITUS: The Light and Delightful Musical Comedy of Titus Andronicus, and Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet). TITUS won last year’s Vancouver Fringe Festival Pick of the Fringe and earned 5 Stars from the Vancouver Sun. Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) was written by Anne- Marie MacDonald, who received the Governor General's Award, the Floyd S. Chalmers Canadian Play Award and the Canadian Authors Association Award for the play. Tickets: $20 to $35.</p>
