Scottish comedy sensation Danny Bhoy returns to Canada for a cross-country tour this fall, with a stop at Vogue Theatre on October 27.

His brand new show, Commonwealth Comedian, shares stories from Bhoy’s life, thoughts on human nature, and even a little bit of politics. You never know exactly where the show will go.

1) Point Grey's Anatomy - Season 3 Premiere at Little Mountain Gallery, 8 pm on September 16
Grad School Improv returns with their hit improvised medical drama Point Grey's Anatomy! With the passage of time, how have the characters changed? Can southern surgeon Mac Tucker repair his broken relationships? Will competent nurse Linda Mason gain some damn respect? Can Lillienne Boner balance life as Chief of Surgery and a mother of twins? And is Roy Donovan still the lovable intern we love to love? Only time will tell.

2) Bloodfeud at Little Mountain Gallery, 8 pm on September 17
Some of Vancouver’s best stand-ups face off with some of the city’s finest improvisers in the first-ever Bloodfeud. Hosted by Matty Vu and Malcolm McLeod. Bloodfeud shows what happens when comedy stops being polite and starts being real. With special guests from stand-up rooms and improv troupes across the city.

3) Showcase Sundays with headliner Patrick Maliha at Belmont Bar, 8 pm on September 18
Patrick Maliha is a comic, an impressionist, a trivia host, and a Gentlemen Heckler. He has headlined and MC’ed at clubs, festivals, and corporate events across Canada and the U.S., and on Sunday he headlines the Belmont Bar with host Harris Anderson, San Aung, Jenny Toews, Brad Dorion and more on the bill.

4) Improv Against Humanity: Rush Week Revelry at The Rio Theatre, 8 pm on September 21
Come party with The Fictionals and special guests as they bring the world of Cards Against Humanity to life. Plus they have sweet prizes to give out, new cards in the official show deck, and will crown the Most Horrible Person in Vancouver!

5) The Gumshoe Revue at The Columbia Theatre, 8pm on September 22
Ghost Light Vaudeville Society’s debut production, “The Gumshoe Revue”, is an investigation into paranormal pulp and pulse-raising performances. Our hardboiled hosts will lead us all through a wide variety of acts - including burlesque, drag, comedy, and music - each one uniquely inspired by the ghosts and demons that live among us. This event will act as a major fundraiser for a local non-profit organization, Women Against Violence Against Women (WAVAW), and all proceeds raised will go to help their many wonderful programs.

1) Rob Pue at Yuk Yuks, 8 pm on September 2, 7 pm and 9:30 pm on September 3
Rob has performed at all 3 Major Canadian TV Comedy Festivals - Just For Laughs Montreal, Ha! Halifax Comedy Fest and The Winnipeg Comedy Festival. He was also a regular on MTV's Punk'd and has a Comedy Now special on the Comedy Channel. He has been described as having "unmistakeable charm and as one of the top clean comics working in the Canadian comedy scene.

2) Rory Scovel at The Biltmore Cabaret, 8 pm on September 2
Rory’s stand up has been featured on Comedy Central, CONAN, and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. His second album, RORY SCOVEL LIVE AT THIRD MAN RECORDS, was released in 2013. Rory is also a regular podcast guest, with appearances on Comedy Bang Bang, Doug Loves Movies, and The Nerdist Podcast.

3) The Gentlemen Hecklers presents Dungeons & Dragons at The Rio Theatre, 9:30 pm on September 5
The Gentlemen Hecklers celebrate four years of movie riffing by revisiting the first ever film they heckled: Dungeons & Dragons starring Jeremy Irons and Thora Birch. Eric Fell, Patrick Maliha, and Shaun Stewart provide their unique brand of live, hilarious commentary - for the best bad movies.

4) The Magic Negro and Other Blackness, September 6 at 9 pm
Using comedic sketches, improv, and character pieces, Mark Kendall's one-man show examines the representation of black males in the media. From prison to white flight, Aunt Jemima, and even Reading Rainbow – the Atlanta comic and special guests explore some of the ways these images influence our views on race in everyday life. Hosted by Cameron Macleod.

5) Vancouver Fringe Festival 2016, September 8 to 18 on Granville Island and around Vancouver
The Vancouver Fringe is a celebration of every kind of theatre imaginable. Over 11 days in September, over 100 different theatre artists and companies come together to share their creativity on stage. Audiences are as varied as the performances with theatrical offerings for all tastes and ages.

Calling all Kwantlen Polytechnic University students and alumni! Looking to make new friends this semester? Want to work on your public speaking and communication skills in a fun and welcoming environment? Kwantlen Improv (KI) is here to make your comedy dreams come true.

I'm honoured to announce that I will be teaching improv workshops at KPU Surrey every Monday starting on September 19. The drop-in workshops will take place from 5:00 pm to 6:50 pm in the Cedar Building (Room TBC), and are free for current students, $5 for alumni, and $10 for members of the public.

As a Kwantlen alum myself (Bachelor of Journalism, 2006), I'm thrilled to work with the Kwantlen Student Association to share my experience with students and grads. Even more exciting is that KI workshops are also open to members of the community. If you know someone who has always wanted to try improv, invite them to join you.

4) Storyteller: A Farewell Concert of sorts at XY, 7 pm on August 30
Improviser and musician Darren Yorke is flying home to Ireland after a beautiful two years of comedy in Vancouver! Before he goes, he's putting on one final West Coast concert full of music and stories at XYYVR.

5) Misfit Fest at Little Mountain Gallery, 8:30 pm on August 31
Misfit Fest is a celebration of comedy that doesn't fit. It features fresh comedic combinations, new sketch, improv, and jokes from artists related in one way or another to Blind Tiger Comedy. There will be an improvised panel show,a sketch about bridesmaids, and a blow-up mattress.

The best in Latin American film is being showcased at the 2016Vancouver Latin American Film Festival (VLAFF), August 25 to September 4 at The Cinematheque, Vancity Theatre and SFU Woodward’s.

The festival will screen 60 films from 14 countries, has Brazil as this year’s guest country, and promises to have something for all audiences. More on Daily Hive Vancouver.

Once in awhile an opportunity arises where I get to combine journalism, being on camera, and supporting a great cause. That's why I am happy to announce that I have been selected as a co-host of Plugged-In, the exciting news talk show by The Kidney Foundation of Canada - BC and Yukon Branch!

This past Sunday was the first day in the Plugged-In studios, where I got to work with amazing co-hosts Lori Watt, Amro Majzoub and Manpreet Johal. We shared kidney disease information, learned about kidney health, and talked about the importance of organ donation.

I also sat down with kidney disease patient Logyn and his big sister Bronwyn to pack a kidney-friendly lunch and snacks for school. We also bonded over Pokemon cards!

Did you know that one in 10 Canadians are battling kidney disease? Or that there is no cure for kidney disease? I do now, which is why I'm honoured to work with The Kidney Foundation of Canada to get the word out. The organization provides hope and support to all people affected by kidney disease: young children, families, organ donors and recipients, and more.

Working on Plugged-In has been an eye-opening experience, and I can't wait to share the first episode with you when it goes live in September! In the meantime, follow The Kidney Foundation of Canada - BC and Yukon Branch on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more important information.
