Thanks so much to Kwantlen Polytechnic University for invting me to lead two improv workshops for staff at KPU Day 2018 at KPU Langley! I had a fantastic time in April leading the 38 students in various improv games and exercises, and teaching them about the Power Of Yes!

Everyone was fantastic and really took to the concepts of teamwork, spontaneous thinking, and joyful play. I look forward to teaching more fun corporate workshops in the future.

I'm excited to be back at Kwantlen Polytechnic University for another year of Kwantlen Improv, drop-in workshops open to students, alumni and members of the public!

Kwantlen Improv meets every Monday in Birch 250 from 5:00 pm to 6:50 pm, except for Holidays. Come learn theatre games, communication techniques, make new friends and have fun! No experience necessary, and workshops are free for students! $5 for alumni and $10 for members of the public.

Come for the whole workshop or drop by during your class break, and have a laugh with your fellow students!

 

The Fictionals recently launched our Cards Against Vancouver expansion and it is a huge hit! We originally came up with the idea to celebrate our beautiful city, and the game has evolved into something that all fans of Improv Against Humanity and beyond can enjoy!

Every time I step onstage, I feel a responsibility to give the audience a great show. They not only paid for the ticket, but they took time out of their day to give to me, the entertainer. They give me their undivided attention for a few hours, and all they ask in return is a fun time.

Lasy night's Improv Against Humanity show felt extra important, as people braved the snow and cold to join us at the Rio Theatre. I'm proud to say that I feel we delivered on our promise of a fun time. Lots of laughs, kind feedback after the show, and some discoveries along the way.

Kwantlen Improv is back in action on Monday, January 9 with a brand new semester of comedy workshops. Whether you're new to improv, a long-time theatre lover, or just in need of laughs, everyone is welcome to join the fun at Kwantlen Surrey - FIR 324 every Monday afternoon from 5:00 to 6:50 pm. This new year will see us working on different improv skills, theatre games, and more.

Surrey-raised comedian Daniel Chai is “coming home” to teach comedy to members of the new Kwantlen Improv club.

Weekly drop-in workshops will be held at the Surrey campus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) starting on Monday, Sept. 19, from 5 to 6:50 p.m. in the Cedar Building.

Students, alumni and members of the general public are invited to get involved.

Chai is co-founder and producer of The Fictionals Comedy Co. and is a mainstage player with Vancouver TheatreSports League. He’s also a former Now freelance reporter, circa 2007.

“Communication techniques, teamwork, and presentation skills are just a few of the areas we will explore” at Kwantlen Improv sessions, Chai said. “Plus there will be lots of laughs.”

Attendance is free for current Kwantlen students; the fee is $5 for Kwantlen alumni and $10 for members of the public.
