1) Puppet Slam Summer Edition: Skool’s In Session at Granville Island Revue Stage, 8 pm on August 26
The puppets are ready to party! A wild array of Greater Vancouver’s brave, bold and beautiful puppeteers have thrown their names into the hat for a chance to wow you in ten minutes or less. Presented by the Vancouver International Puppet Festival in collaboration with the Granville Island Cultural Society. Tickets: $20
2) The Book of Mormon at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, matinee and evening performances until September 4
The Broadway smash from the creators of South Park. The Book of Mormon follows a mismatched pair of missionaires as they attempt to share their scriptures with the inhabitants of a remote Ugandan village. Hijinks and musical adventures ensues! The Book of Mormon is a nine-time Tony Award winning musical, and also won a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album. Tickets: Various
3) Brian Regan at the Vogue Theatre, 7 pm on August 28
Brian Regan has distinguished himself as a premier comedian,and has been described as having the perfect balance of sophisticated writing and physicality. Brian has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and Comedy Central. Tickets: $52.50 + s/c
4) Storyteller: A Farewell Concert of sorts at XY, 7 pm on August 30
Improviser and musician Darren Yorke is flying home to Ireland after a beautiful two years of comedy in Vancouver! Before he goes, he’s putting on one final West Coast concert full of music and stories at XYYVR.
5) Misfit Fest at Little Mountain Gallery, 8:30 pm on August 31
Misfit Fest is a celebration of comedy that doesn’t fit. It features fresh comedic combinations, new sketch, improv, and jokes from artists related in one way or another to Blind Tiger Comedy. There will be an improvised panel show,a sketch about bridesmaids, and a blow-up mattress.
