1) Throwing Shade Live at Rickshaw Theatre, 9 pm on August 12
Throwing Shade is a hit comedy podcast co-hosted by Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi. Called one of the top 20 podcasts of 2015 by Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone, Throwing Shadecovers a mix of women’s rights, gay rights, pop culture and adult topics. 2) Laugh Track with Chris Fairbanks at Fox Cabaret, 8 pm on August 13
A West Coast comedy spectacular featuring the best comedy this side of the Rockies. Hosts The Sunday Service present headliner Chris Fairbanks, who has appeared on Comedy Central, Conan, Last Comic Standing, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Vh1 and TruTV. Also on the bill are Courtney Kawal, Stacey Hallal, and Dino Archie. Tickets: $15
3) Instant Theatre Date Auction at Instant Studios, 8 pm on August 13
Ever wanted to spend some more time with the wonderful improvisers of Instant Theatre? Head down to Instant Studios to bid in a live auction on fantastic date packages that include activities like the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, a High-Flying Trapeze Lesson, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and more.
4) Protest Comedy with Simon King and Graham Clark at Rickshaw Theatre, 9 pm on August 13
A night of Fight The Power, Kick Over The Tables, Burn It all Down Protest Comedy and Music. Some of Vancouver’s best Comics are coming together to examine politics, power, activism and society. Headlined by Simon King, hosted by Graham Clark, and featuring Dylan Rhymer, Richard Thompson and Katrina Bennett. Followed by a punk-rock post-show protest party featuring live performance by The Defektors, Politicians In Sinking Ships and more. Tickets: $20
5) Hunter Collins at Yuk Yuks Abbotsford, 7 pm on August 18 to 20
Originally from Montreal, this bilingual performer has graced the stage at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Cottage Country Comedy Festival (3 times), NXNE (5 times), The Montreal Sketchfest (4 times) and The Toronto Sketchfest. Hunter has also appeared on Much Music’s hit show “Video On Trial”. Tickets: $10-20
